Happy Yogis Nursery School is a play based, Yoga inspired in-home child care program licensed by the State of California. Our program is located in San Mateo. We serve children ranging from three months up to kindergarten.

At Happy Yogis's we believe that children who feel safe, comfortable, and respected, exhibit a natural sense of wonder, curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.

Our goal is to look into the individual needs of children as well as the need of the group, and create hands-on learning opportunities through specialized routines that supports each child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.

Ellie Souza has spent 15 yeas working with early childhood education. Most recently,  she spent 5 years teaching yoga to infants, toddlers and younger children of different ages in daycare and Pre-K settings throughout the Bay Area under her own business called Chant Kids Yoga (https://www.instagram.com/chant_kids_yoga).

It was while working under that capacity she felt inspired of opening her own in-home based California State licensed Nursery School program inspired in the philosophy of Yoga. Ellie is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish.

It’s her goal to provide a lovely, safe and positive environment to the little ones, and she is committed to help to create a healthy foundation to every child’s intellectual, emotional and social well being , physical growth, while he/she will be under her.

Ellie is in the process of applying for the Lifeways program to pursue certification from Lifeways North America Early Childhood Education, and she is always taking several courses related to childhood education.

Everybody Loves Activities

PAINTING

Painting allows a child to express themselves without the use of words, and provides children with an educational opportunity that is fun and exciting. Painting also helps children acquire hand-eye coordination, an  essential skill in their age.

YOGA

Children learn yoga poses, breathing and relaxation techniques, plus mindfulness exercises. They also learn how to cultivate loving-awareness and compassion for one another. Yoga helps children improve focus and concentration, gain confidence, and learn how to express themselves.

MUSIC & READING TIME

Music and dance helps body and mind to work together, ignite children's social skills and brainpower, build their confidence, and inspire creativity and other forms of expression.

We love to read hundreds of works of classic and contemporary children's literature to our kids. We select books in Portuguese, English, and Spanish daily, so that children can learn new languages at an early age, skills that are invaluable as they get older.

FREE UNINTERRUPTED PLAY

Playing outdoors gives children an opportunity to learn about nature and promote all areas of development. Air circulation, temperature changes, and the playfulness of sun spots and shade are stimuli to the skin, eyes, lungs, and metabolism.

Curriculum

Our monthly curriculum helps our children with academic  learning through Math, Sciences and Language Arts activities

 appropriate to their age group.

The daly routine helps children feel more confident, secure and in control of their environment, because their daily activities are predictable and familiar.  We also go with the flow :)
